Magnolia House

Garden view | 280 m² | 4 x Double bed | 2 x Single bed | 10 persons

Located on a quiet street in a pretty Andalusian town, Casa Magnolia hides its secrets behind its original rough-hewn wooden door surrounded by exposed brick. Built on 3 levels and dating back to 1624, the house still retains many of its original features and its transformation has been phenomenal, with an explosion of color, interior design and great green credentials. As you enter the foyer with original tiles, occasional antique furniture and beamed ceilings, the cheerful striped tiger shows the way. A handy bench allows you to drop your bags while you absorb and explore the wealth of Magnolia's treasures. On this level is bedroom one, with a large single bed and a toilet with Moroccan sink. Another original wooden door leads you into the spacious living room with exposed beams and brickwork, two huge fluffy sofas and elegant velvet chairs: elegance blends with the rustic, and each piece of art, sculpture and pottery has been carefully chosen and each blends harmoniously with the other. The thick walls keep the house cool in summer and there is a wood-burning stove for winter stays. There is a shaded patio outside this room with wooden dining table and seating for up to 10 people - the views across the gardens to the surrounding Andalusian hills are stunning. The super stylish kitchen with pale grey Smeg units and marble worktop has everything you could need to cook up a storm.

From the foyer, another original door leads to the middle floor .....If the walls could talk, they would ooze history, but ......wait..... here's another surprise! Who would have imagined a gorgeous, pampered modern sauna with complimentary bathrobes and organic toiletries, and an adjoining "chill out room" in a house dating back to the 17th century? Relax on the velvet sofa and enjoy the luxury and seclusion. A couple of steps lead down to a bathroom fit for a king, with huge antique bronze urns and a walk-in shower. Just off the first floor, a modern staircase leads to two more bedrooms, both with beautiful en-suite bathrooms and king size beds. Bedroom 4 is opposite the cold room with double bed and original wooden beams. Bedroom 5 has its own spiral staircase with queen bed, original stonework and views of the atrium and gardens. All bedding is fine thread count Egyptian cotton, fluffy white towels and contemporary, organic toiletries.

Steps lead down to the lower level of the house into the fabulous atrium with tons of plants, antique tapestries and fabulous arched brick ceiling. Here is your second kitchen with a sleek Smeg fridge, ceramic hob and sink. There's a handy bench for chatting with the designated chef. But...now to the star of the show...the gardens where the scent of roses in the summer is intoxicating. Although there are old houses on either side of Magnolia, you'll feel very private here and the only sound is birdsong. Here is another patio with dining table and Webber BBQ......... This is where you will spend much of your time while staying with us! The large private pool with sun loungers is a good size and offers welcome relief during the hot Spanish summers - there are cleverly hidden shaded areas where you can snooze with a book or enjoy an early gin and tonic (after picking your own lemon, of course!). The lawn is expansive and perfect for a yoga retreat or to indulge in a wonderful setting. A true midnight dream..
